355# Penang

355# Penang

I don't know why, i'm just too lazy to update. I always tell myself to write a post about the trip to penang and langkawi. After returning home for 1 week, and now i begin.

Partly is because i'm yet to receive the pictures from Han Ying, Ching Li and Min Lin. I didn't take those nice pictures but Min Lin took number of nice scenaries and group pictures.

And now this fella is at Taiwan enjoying his 20 days trip with Keat Seong and Ze Wei. Hope they won't face the flood over there. God bless.

Anyway, Penang was fun (it's like, duh...). We had somehow a pretty unhealthy lifestyle over there. Non stop eating and playing, and very limited rest.

Bet you know what kind of food is famous in Penang. To be really honest, delicious foods are unhealthy. What to do, human tend to do things which they are not supposed to.

For our first dinner at Penang, we had lok lok. It was such a bomb where everyone dipped in the sticks as if they were free. Back to our place here at KL, Lok lok are not served in such a way like the photo shown above.

That was the first time i had all the lok lok sticks served in such huge number in front of me. They are smart. They do in such a way so that you would fail to notice how many sticks you have eaten.

Plus each of everyone of us ate the Char Kuey Teow too. It was a special one because that was the first time i have eaten a CKT fried with duck egg. Not bad.

The next morning we had Dim Sum for breakfast. We scheduled to eat another famous CKT by the "sisters", but too bad it was closed that day. Even "brothers" CKT was closed too. Therefore something different we went to try the dim sum there.

Heard that the dim sum there are quite cheap unlike over here in KL. RM1.50 to RM2.50 per plate, that's like RM2 cheaper than over here.

Everyone ordered the porridge. Due to peer pressure, i had no idea what kind of porridge it was and i wanted to order as well.

But it was sold out until my turn.

After that we went to check out ferry tickets to Langkawi for our next day.

The ticket was priced around RM50 back to few years back according to them. And the price got up to double now. RM106 per trip per person from Penang to Langkawi.

Insane.

They surveyed a few other sellers and the best we could get was RM99. Cut down to 2 digits from 3 digits. Not bad.

And in the end, someone (i can't remember who, please remind me) came out with a brilliant idea. We just drive to Kuala Kedah and take ferry from there. The ticket there is selling at RM23, which was way cheaper. We just need to drive there for 1.5 hours and we can save hundreds.

Accommodation in Penang was insane, too.

7 guys and 4 girls in an apartment with 2 rooms, 2 beds in each respective room.

For the first night i didn't sleep at all because it was such a pain to cramp in the 2 single beds with 3 other people.

The next day i chose to sleep in the living room. Couple of sofa cushion as my bed gave a better sleep than cramping in the bed.

The fiest went on. There's this corner selling nice ais kacang. I'm not a big fan for whatever ice but i've to say this ais kacang really worth trying.

RM1.80 per bowl with generous amount of syrup and toppings. I really like the red beans.

I remembered some of them even ate more than 1 bowl.

How many have you eaten, Naomi?

Trip to Penang for sure we can't miss the temples. It's like each of everytime i go Penang i will not fail to visit the temples.

I'm not a religious person so it's kind of pointless for me to go temples. But there was this fun part where they are bowls spinning in the pool. The bowls are written with fortune words respectively, like wealth, education, marriage and such.

And we all kept spamming coins into the bowl to obtain the luck. Of course most of the coins drop into the pool la. Money gone also la.

Next stop was the Kek Lok Si. It's mandatory to eat the Laksa before you go up to the temple. I did that last year too during my road trip with my college friends.

Sorry for those who like it. Frankly, the Laksa was way too heavy for me. I know all of you all love it, but i just can't take the flavour of the mint. Therefore i only picked the noodles to eat and leave all the other ingredients untouched.

Last year during my visit to the Kek Lok Shi, we didn't go to the upper part. Because we didn't know how to (All from KL, no local guide among us).

There's an electric elevator in fact, to go up there. Of course you have to pay la. The scenary up there was nicer, and we got once step closer to see the massive Kuan Yin statue.

It was way bigger than i imagined. Plus i didn't know that they are building the roof for it. I thought it is just the statue standing alone there.

And we donated money for the megastructure's construction.

We got a tile and we write our names on it. I almost forget how to write my name in Chinese, because i hardly write in Chinese for the past 10 years.

It was funny to see how the rest write their names. By the way, Min Lin has the best hand writting. But guess that doesn't help much, because he lost his car key. (i know these don't associate with each other but i just feel like it)

We walk around and look for it, and it was then discovered that Min Lin left his car key in his car. He killed the engine without taking the key out.

Being an Iswara which it was said that the lock is pretty hijackable. Even Ze Wei hack the car lock open with a metal ruler back when she was a kid. That seemed to be her favourite game during her play time back then.

But somehow things weren't that easy. After minutes of trying with the metal bar stolen from the fruit seller, the fruit seller uncle came to help. He hack opened the door lock with one hand (another hand was holding the cigarette) within 15 seconds.

It was so fast and i didn't manage to snap a photo.

"Uncle, you no need sell fruit already!"

And Kia Huat came to us with a metal ruler in his hand, which he bought from a stationary store after fed up with the metal bar.

"Huh? opened liao ah?"

For 2 nights, we went to play arcade. RM4/hour was the best deal i could ever think of. Just pay RM4 for an hour and you can get the free play on the machines. Considering the machines aren't that screwed up and playable.

The first night we played for an hour. I solo-ed The House of Dead 2. Of course i died 99 times la. It's impossible to finish the game without continuing again and again. Since it was a free play, it was stress free to play, because you can continue without tokens if you lose.

The second night we played for 2 hours, because 1 hour is too little. This time i played the Time Crisis 4. Since this is a new game, therefore no free play, tokens needed. RM0.50 per token.

Me and Ngie Chang finished the game with around 26 tokens (4 free tokens are given when you purchase 2 hours). I can tell everyone now "I've finished Time Crisis 4!" proudly.

Because not much of people can do so. In Mid Valley, to start a game is RM2, and to continue is RM1. If your character died 12 times (like us), then that would be RM14. If 2 persons playing, that would be RM28. Too expensive la.

The third day, before we drive to Kuala Kedah we had wonderful breakfast. Prawn Mee! Selling at 500 bowls only per day, it tells you how famous the prawn mee over there.

Really nice. The best food i have eaten in Penang. And in fact i wanted to eat the prawn mee more than the rest. But who knows it was the second last food we ate in penang.

Next stop was the "Sister" CKT, finally. I didn't eat much because of the prawn mee in me. But can tell that the CKT was really delicious as well. Thanks to Ze Wei's mum for both treats.

After that, Langkawi.

Wait until i get the pictures from them.

Thank you!

PS: 1 hour and 20 minutes to type this post. Crazy.

354# Mission, incomplete

354# Mission, incomplete

It's been a while.

Time flies, like an arrow. And the arrow has stab to an end. Another 2.5 years have passed in our life.

How many 2.5 years we have in our life?

It's sad, but true. From more than 220 people in M106, finally the number got cut down by exam and exams into the number of 178 people in semester 5.

M106

Yesterday was the day which i was waiting since the day i finished the exam. The day which will make most of the people trebling in fear and stone in agony - End of semester 5 results.

I'm the kind of person who will get stressed up rather easily.

We have received the information where 12 people out of the 178 people failed, and 2 out of the 12 were chinese.

And since the day i got that information, i was fearing to be 1 of those who failed, really.

Those who attended the last lecture, i was in.

To be honest i think i had done well for the exams, at least better than my EOS3, which i passed just nice.

However, accident has no smell. I kept on telling myself malang tidak berbau. Even though how well you did, there's still a risk for someone to step on the landmine.

You will never know.

Second kuala kubu hospital post.

So, everyone was waiting for result outside the AAD. Not to forget some of the people were already start flashing their cameras, since that would be the last time we meeting up each other before everyone fly off to their clinical schools.

Before the result was released, i walked towards the toilet. While i passed by the office, i saw the ladies from the office took out the result.

Oh crap, it's out.

Imu ball 2008

With the speed of light i i lined up in front of the lady who was giving out result. I was second in the line while Trace was the first. Yes, i can't wait to pass.

Trace open her result first. And after that me.

B+

Yes, we passed. And we high five.

One of those birthdays, and this was tks ones.

It was such a relief to see myself passed. Actually everything moves according to plan, but of course i will still be afraid of failing. Like i've said, malang tidak berbau.

Everything moves according to plan as in, i know that i can pass, i expected all my papers' grade will improve by one grade compared to EOS3.

And it really did.

EOS 3 i failed 4 system exams and EOS 5 i failed 3 system exams.

EOS 3 i got B, and EOS 5 i got B+.

It's slow, but there's a gradual improvement, which i wanted.

See you in Seremban

At least all my efforts are not wasted. I know i can't straight jump to score an A, but i'm happy with the result i've gotten.

My youngest sister told me that my dad was glad that i finished exam, because i longer need to imprison myself in my room and they are able to see me again.

But, oh well, at least for this 1.5 months before i go seremban.

shit... which lab coat is mine?

Congrats to everyone who has passed. And for those who didn't, work hard and hope you'll get through the re-sit exam.

For everyone in imu, thanks for all the help, care and knn words through out this 2.5 years. May god bless you.

Thank you!

353# MG Force Impulse - Part 3

353# MG Force Impulse - Part 3

Overall this MG makes no difference from the SEED line. (This sounds like the conclusion already?)

SEED line MGs tend to be more streamlined, taller, and backpacks tend to be bigger and meaner.

And there's something SEED line MGs shared in common - they can't balance on their own feet. But anyway, this particular MG can actually stand by its own. Maybe the force silhouette isn't that heavy.

The SEED MG which has the heaviest backpack is going to be the Strike Freedom Gundam. The weight of the backpack with 8 wings is almost equivalent to the weight of the gundam itself.

Therefore MG Force Impulse Gundam also inherited the general design like the other SEED MG models. You can't help but to admire how BEE-Craft can re-illustrate such ugly looking mecha (i'm sorry, just my opinion) into such wonderful looking model.

Let's put it in this way, High Grade models' proportion looks like a 10 years old kid's proportion. 1/100 scale model ones looks like a teenager's proportion. And ultimately master grade models look like muscular, mature and steady looking man's proportion.

That's how i put it. It really make some sense, because HG is targeted to the younger age group and such.

Come on, how can i not take a shot of the model doing the SEED pose which is already heavy abused in the SEED series?

Even some of the UC gundams also did this pose before. Just can't recall where i've seen it.

Kind of bored with this pose. This is my least prefered pose. Because the right hand holding the rifle with the shoulder joint flexed can give a lot of stress at the shoulder joint. In the end the joint would just wear out and get loosen.

MG's articulation is just getting better and better. MG released years ago are not able to scratch their backs. With the articulation and design developed, most of the MG nowadays are able to reach the back to retrieve the beam sabers.

This particular pose could be interesting in some way since viewer may tend to imagine what would happen next when it is trying to pull out the beam saber.

This is what happens next, pull out the beam saber, and chong...!

The pink beam part is molded in a lighter pink unlike the previous models. There are some silvery particles in it, resembling the beam parts of the MG Destiny Gundam.

Bandai even improved the beam parts in such a way which worth to be credited.

Don't get this wrong. Force Impulse gundam nor the pilot Shin Asuka or Lunamaria are not Christian. Wonder why the shield is designed with this big cross on it.

Even the first gundam ever designed in the year of 1979, Gundam RX-78-2, has a inverted cross on its shield.

It's just a design and doesn't serve any practice function, unlike Unicorn Gundam's X shaped shield during destroy mode, which said to release electromagnetic field.

One of the selling points of this MG is the massive anti ship sword, Excalibur given.

The sword is actually not with the Force Impulse Gundam, but the Sword Impulse Gundam instead, which has two of the swords.

I guess the reason behind is to stimulate the market even more. Most of the people do not fancy over this particular gundam because the over emotional pilot Shin Asuka who pilot it.

People in HK called Shin as "bystander A" and Force Impulse Gundam as "bystander mecha", lol. But i guess in the end they still fall into it after it received the MG treatment.

Another pose with the Excalibur. Not a pose with i would leave it since it cause the joints to loosen very soon. But it still look good nonetheless.

It's being speculated that MG Sword Impulse Gundam will be released. I strongly believe this possibility by looking at the design of the frames. It seemed that some of the parts (part of Excalibur) will be released in double.

And then, Bandai will be able to milk more money from the modelers all over the world.

Thank God i don't fancy over the Sword Impulse like most of the people out there do.

Just like MG Strike Gundam which released in Aile backpack, then the Strike Rogue with the pink color variant.

4 years after that the I.W.S.P backpack, and 5 years after that they released another Strike Gundam with Launcher and Sword backpack with a higher price.

Not to forget that Strike Noir released used back the same inner frame.

This is what we called as "multipurpose inner frame". A same frame can be used up to 5 times!

Back to the massive anti ship sword, the Excalibur. Really massive which may add a lot of stress of the joints like i have mentioned again and again.

However it seems to be longer than Destiny Gundam's one. The downside is that it's not fold able unlike Destiny Gundam's ones.

That's it, double Gunpla post.

PS: EOS 5 result out tomorrow. 3pm, we shall see.

352# MG Force Impulse Gundam - Part 2

352# MG Force Impulse Gundam - Part 2

There's no Part 1 actually, i go straight into Part 2 because some words have been mentioned in the post prior to this.

Like i mentioned, this particular master grade is just ok-ok for me, didn't really feel the shock factor from it.

Maybe i was paying more attention to the Shin Musha Gundam which i bought along with this MG. I built this MG first instead of the Shin Musha because of the weather recently.

Flat top coat, completed.

I've got a gold color can spray FOC from the auntie of the model shop. The can spray just have a little left so she gave it to me to spray the gold parts of the Shin Musha.

Instead of starting with the Shin Musha, i had to postpone it and start with the Force Impulse. I have to spray the gold parts of Shin Musha first before i can begin, but the weather recently didn't allow me to do so.

The flyers.

Today's weather is kind of different. At least during the evening. It was quite sunny as compared to days before.

The completed Force Impulse was standing there doing nothing. I grab the opportunity of the good weather and continued to work on this Force impulse.

I reapplied the panel lines with the new liner i bought yesterday and i colored some parts with the metallic chrome and gold markers. Hydraulic pipes must be painted no matter what.

Core Splendor

And soon after that, i applied the decals and stickers. As usual, i'm a big time sucker in applying decals. I ruined almost half of the decals. You may notice some of the decals are spoilt in some of the coming photos.

Followed by the stickers. This time i used the "compulsory" method, which is to dip the stickers in water before applying so that it can still be adjusted instead of sticking hard onto the surface.

Very helpful. But i didn't bother to use this method before this, because i was way too lazy...

Silhouette Flyer with Force Silhouette in standby

After hours of the post straight build touch-ups, it was finally done. Before the sunset, before the wind started to blow, i went downstairs and started to coat this MG outside the house.

I learn from my mistake this time.

This time i found a spot where minimum wind is blown. I sprayed only 3 times per side instead of 5 like last time to conserve the top coat. Now i can still feel the weight of the spray can, guess it can still be used to spray up to 3 more MGs.

Silhouette Flyer launched

This is the first time i spray with flat coat instead of the semi gloss which i always use.

Most of the people fancy with flat because it is able to give a more realistic look instead of the partial glossy look. Actually i don't mind the latter ones, but this time i just want to have a different tone for my MG.

I guess the difference in between semi gloss and flat is that flat has more particles in it. Last time while i use the semi gloss i can see the plastic particles on the model's surface.

And this time the flat coat seems to release more of them to make the surface looked duller.

Chest Flyer

I'm not sure how long we have to wait to let it dry. I usually spray it with the interval of 1 minute. Without fail i will go touch the model to feel the roughness of the surface.

Oh well, i don't know whether it dried already not, the evenly sprayed sandy particles got messed up after i rubbed it with my thumb.

Seriously, please don't try this at home. My Force Silhouette's wings were ruined because of my curiosity.

Leg Flyer

After spraying 3 times per side, i let it relax for a little while more. I had to be extra careful with the foreign objects that might just stick on the surface of the model.

Example, like my dogs' fur.

The wing (not very strong, or else i wouldn't have do it) was blowing my dogs' fur and some of it stick on the model. Very bad.

Final assemble - Force Impulse Gundam

And again i let it to chill for another 30 minutes indoor before i put everything together again. The outcome seemed satisfying. At least better than the out of the box plastic feel.

However, still can't avoid the sandy particles get off from the surface. It got on my fingers when i touch them. Haven't dry completely i guess?

351# If you don't know where to go you better just stone at home

351# If you don't know where to go you better just stone at home

Today is the 5th day since our exam over.

Really stone. I have tonnes of to-do-list in my mind but i just can't do it before the result's released.

First of all is to find a house in Seremban for our clinical year in imu Seremban campus. Heard that almost everyone has found a house except 3 groups of people, including me.

The first thing i have to do after taking our results is to discuss with my house mates about this issue. A few of them forced to take houses at Seremban 2, which is further from the campus, but with a better condition.

Ok, i just received a call from Darren. Tomorrow morning we are going to drive to Seremban to look for houses. Hope can get a descent ones.

Heard some of the seniors' houses got mushroom growing from the wall. Not too bad, can have extra food to add on for steamboat.

But i don't do steamboat at home, therefore i really hope can get a house with good condition.

The only time i went out with friends after the exam was to go eat seafood at Teluk Gong. Somewhere near my area, but not really near, about 20 minutes of drive.

20 minutes i can actually reach subang already.

The food was ok. I've been there for quite a lot of times already. But that was the first time i tried the coconut wine.

Absolutely pungent smelling like your neighbour's armpit, and the taste's just like rotten coconut juice. It's a fermented coconut drink anyway.

MG Shin Musha Gundam - RM168
MG Force Impulse Gundam - RM148
Mr Hobby Flat top coat - RM33
Gold Gundam Marker - RM9.50
Mr Color Gold spray - FOC
True Crime (novel) - RM14.90
Relaxation after exam - Priceless

Thursday after exam we went mid valley for arcade, and after that i went to Carefour to get some models, just like Chan mentioned in his blog;

"Went to Carrefour with my friends as KNNM wanted to check out some models there"

Knn, that fella always call me Knn man but since he curse knn 10 times more than i do.

Since i'm just stoning at home therefore i started to build the MG force impulse gundam first. Standard MG price with standard number of pieces.

Nothing special about this MG, it's just another MG from the Cosmic Era line which i collect the most. It's just the individual planes that make me fascinated over this MG.

Very super sentai-ish design where a mecha is built with a few smaller units.

But not practical. Sien like shit to see the cut scene again and again each of every time Shin Asuka launching from Minerva. Takes like 20 seconds to complete the combination in mid air. Don't know for what.

If the enemy aim at one of those flyers than Force Impulse Gundam would just get GG-fied.

Don't why why i don't feel the excitement from building this MG. The first day i built the Silhouette Flyer and Force Silhouette. Second day the Core Splendor and Chest Flyer minus one arm. Third day i complete the entire straight build.

I think the reason why i don't feel happy for this is because my liner has spoilt! Finally, the tip splits apart and the line is no longer fine.

Therefore it was really hard for me to line the damn lines.

Plus my metallic marker died. Too much of thinner solvent and the paint is gone. I guess it was because the marker spilled once when i shaked it too hard, and the damn silver marker spilled over my room. Even my stethoscope also turned from black to silver.

Therefore i have to leave the touch up part incomplete. Other than that, the weather recently is too cold and windy, thus i'm not able to apply the decals and stickers since i'm not able to spray the top coat.

There were few times i spray my finished models under the windy weather, the coat got blown away instead of sticking on the model's surface. And a can of semi gloss top coat, RM33 just flushed into the toilet and bye bye.

Have to wake up early tomorrow to go Seremban to look for houses. Hope can get a nice one.

PS: Result out on Friday, finger crossed. Hope we all have passed.

350# The End of Semester 5 exam

350# The End of Semester 5 exam

The end of semester 5 exam.
The end of end of semester 5 exam.
The end of semester 5.

I thought we would go crazy one the exam's over. But seems that only apply for our system exams.

For so many system exams we sat for, once we finished the exam we would just go berserk. Went play DoTA or counter strike. Watch movie, play arcade or just plain lepak in mid valley.

But this time's different. After this final exam. I don't feel like doing anything but stone.

Library with no people other than me, justin and the librarians.

Ever since imu ball finished i have been study non stop until exam over. 3 months of hardcore study made my stress hormone pumping 24/7 and it needs time to subside.

And that's why after this exam, i didn't feel the immediate relief.

But during the last paper OSCE, my last station is a rest. While i was walking to the station, i passed by Kin Chern who was walking to his last station which was a rest as well.

We gave each other a high 5.

Yes, finished.

No one's there.

As expected i was quite stone after exam. I believe everyone else did too. Not only the stress was still maintain, my physical stress was inhibiting my high hormone too.

Having less than 12 hours of sleep for 4 days was kind of tough plus need 100% of concentration for exam where mistakes could be fatal. I felt my temporal pulse pumping hard and the slightly unbearable headache crushing my temporal brain.

Painful, but i didn't want to waste my time after exam to sleep. Must do something.

The campus is dead during our exam time.

We went to our usual lunch hawker food stall Alison for the very last time, instead of going to eat those fancy foods. For 2.5 years, more than hundred times i went to this hawker stall to eat and this place can be memorable.

After that, went Mid valley to feed some arcade machine. As expected, everyone was there.

You can bump into imu folks like every 10 minutes. No wonder we needed 1 hour to find a parking. All parkings were taken by imu cars.

The very last time of us wearing lab coat and take a photo together

Overall the exam was slightly better than my semester 3 finals. I didn't get scolded because of my left handed issue.

I handed the stickers to the doctors with my right hand. I did light and deep palpation of the abdomen with my right hand.

It's already a prejudice for left handed people when all doctors are required to stand at the patient's right instead of left.

Oh well, i guess the earth is just revolves around right handed people and we all the left handed ones have to cope with it.

Hope i could just pass this final straight. Semester 1 final i got into borderline viva, semester 3 pass, and this, semester 5, i hope to see some improvement from myself.

I have worked so hard and made even more sacrifices (including sacrificing friends around me) and i hope i can get a better result in turn.

And that's it, we finished our end of semester 5 exam. Everyone will be heading to different universities for clinical year then.

2.5 years or 3 years later we might meet each other again in the hospital as colleagues.

Thank you!
